all about…

My name is Tony Tulathimutte: “TOO-lah-tim-OO-tee”.

I live in San Francisco and was born and raised in Western Massachusetts. (For all you well-meaning racists out there, I’m quote-unquote originally from Thailand.) I was born in the awful year of 1983.

I’m a writer, currently working on my first novel. Have you read anything I’ve written? Probably not. That’s fine. In 2008 a story of mine won an O. Henry Award, and it ended up getting misprinted big time. I’ve also had some other stories published here and there—mostly here.

At Stanford University I graduated from the Symbolic Systems honors and master’s programs, where I produced two theses on video game interaction design, weirdly. I also co-authored a book on “remote user research methods” with Nate Bolt.

If you want to contact me using the form below, that’s fine with me. I’m also on Twitter, which I don’t think has to be a bad thing.

Obviously everything on this site is © Tony Tulathimutte, except the drawing of the pantomime horse, which is © Justine Lai, and this dignified picture, which is © Kate Nartker.
